BIS’ civil plumbers in Geelong are specialists when it comes to upgrading water infrastructure across Geelong. So when Barwon Water contracted us to carry out major works along Ryrie Street in the city centre, we rolled up our sleeves and got started.
During the project, we excavated and cut outdated mains infrastructure and replaced it with a new pipe. We’ve also tied in two massive new water assemblies to the mains as part of the works. Each assembly tipped the scales at four tonnes, measured six metres in length and 300 millimetres in diameter. They will connect the supply to an adjacent multi-storey construction project, which is nearing completion.
The BIS crew also built two manholes as part of the Ryrie Street works. The manholes will allow easy access to the essential underground infrastructure in the future.
With much of the work happening at night, we’ve toiled swiftly and efficiently to upgrade the infrastructure to limit disruption to the water supply. Our team has done a great job and we’re pleased with the result. Check out the photos below to see us in action.
